Police say the driver of the red Audi A3 convertible was “travelling at speed” when he lost control on a corner and mowed down a group of teens in the early hours last July 2, 2017 at Croydon, London. The 16-year-old girl has died

and six other teenagers have been injured while on their way home from a birthday party. The group were hit by a ‘speeding car’ in a horror hit-and-run. According to the reports the driver has fled from the scene on foot following the collision in Croydon, south London. The suspect male driver is believed to have suffered a head injury in the smash. The man in his 30s attended a south London police station this afternoon and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The victim died at the scene, while six others were rushed to hospital, but it not believed their injuries are life-threatening. The car was travelling at speed before it lost control at a corner and collided with the pedestrians.  Six other members of the group, which included boys and girls, were taken to two hospitals in south London. Three had serious injuries, a spokeswoman for the London ambulance service said. An air ambulance rapid response team, six ambulance crews, police and four fire engines attended the scene, the emergency services told the Guardian.
